So the partners tore the hotel down, creating an expansive footprint, and they decided to go big. When owners Toby and Elizabeth Doeden and Kevin and Kara Pharis purchased the building, which had been a Max & Erma’s restaurant, they had the opportunity to purchase a neighboring hotel – one of the original Super 8 hotels – under the condition that the building could no longer operate as a hotel.
